About Prabal
Prabal Banerjee co-founded Avail and leads its research. He spearheaded the implementation of its data availability layer in 2020 and has since built a team of researchers working the frontier of cryptography and blockchain. His interest in cryptography dates to 2013 and in blockchains to 2016, and he came to the field through internships at companies including IBM and Oracle before moving into protocol research full time. Data availability is the unglamorous guarantee that the data behind a block was actually published, and therefore that anyone can independently verify what a chain claims happened - which is the layer an autonomous agent has to be able to check for itself before it settles anything onchain with no human watching.
